Norma Godsey Story

One day my son called me from Texas, (he is one of 6 children that I raised, my first little boy) he was coming to visit but didn’t say why. I didn’t think much about it. I met him at the airport and he asked me to get out of the car so he could talk to me. She said why? I’m not going to Texas? He said Mom I know you have been falling so it is time for us to find another place for you to live. I told my son I don’t want to live in a nursing home. We got back in the car and went to Bluffton. We visited River Terrace, I’m not sure if they had this planned beforehand but this is where we came. We took a look around and looked at an apartment on the 3rd floor. I absolutely loved it! It was quiet and home like. I put a deposit that down to hold the apartment and I became a member of the community within a month! I knew a few people that already lived here so I had no trouble getting acquainted. I met a lady right across the hall from me. She was so outgoing and so easy to talk to. We would visit with one another frequently. If I was ever not feeling well she would always bring me toast and coffee and when she was feeling well I would do the same. We became really good friends! I have been living at River Terrace for almost 7 years now. I transferred to assisted living a year ago and am enjoying that as well. I enjoy knitting and crocheting. I have knitted about 3,000 cancer hats and donate them to the cancer society. I also knit scarves and have done about 90 of those. In my free time I enjoy visiting with friends and family at the Bistro with a nice hot cup of cappuccino and an occasional sweet treat!
